Abdos and Axonlab celebrate Women's Month 2023

  • 4.5 Minutes to read
  • Life Science

We are delighted to share some memories of Women's Month 2023! Our supplier, Abdos Life Sciences, asked us to nominate women who have made a special contribution to science. We are thrilled to honor the following scientists who are doing outstanding work in the laboratory. Find out more about their work below.

Congratulations to Anaïs Varga and the Alveolix Team, Isabelle Plaisance at CHUV, Anna Keppner at Uni Fribourg, Julie Cramard at FMI, Sabine Juge-Ehret at Uni Basel and Sarah Decembrini at Tenpoint Therapeutics

Thank you for all the precious work you do :-)

Alveolix is an innovative biotech company and their vision is to make organs-on-chip technology the new standard for preclinical decision-making and bring data from bench to clinic. Quality and precision is very important for R&D at Alveolix, and Abdos’s pipette tips are an integral part of their workflow.

Isabelle Plaisance (CHUV - Centre hospitalier universitaire vaudois)

Isabelle Plaisance is a brilliant researcher in Cardiology at the University Hospital of Lausanne in the lab of Thierry Pedrazzini. Her work on cardiac differentiation, cardiac regeneration and long noncoding RNAs has been published in high-impact journals and has been widely cited. Abdos’ products have had an important role to play.

Anna Keppner (University Fribourg)

Anna Keppner is an enthusiastic researcher at the University of Fribourg in Prof. Hoogewijs’ lab. The subject of her work is Androglobin (Adgb), the latest globin family member, and its role in spermatogenesis. Anna is also a happy customer.

Julie Cramard (FMI - Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research)

Julie Cramard is the dedicated lab manager of the research group of Prof. Luca Giorgetti at the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI). Julie joined the group to assist in exploring the biophysical mechanisms that link chromosome conformation and long-range transcriptional regulation in mouse embryonic stem cells (ESC) and differentiated derivatives, using molecular biology, genetic engineering, single-cell experiments and physical modelling. She was very happy to be provided with Abdos filter tips during the Corona lockdown when supply of this essential consumable fell short dramatically, so she and her group were able to continue their important research.

Sabine Juge-Ehret (University of Basel)

Sabine Juge-Ehret is the enthusiastic lab manager of Prof. Jürg Schwaller’s research group at the Department of Biomedicine (DBM) of the University of Basel. Her research aims to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms of a human blood cancer called acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with a focus on genetic lesions associated with particularly aggressive disease that, despite improved therapeutic options, remains incurable for most of the patients. Also Sabine happily benefited from the supply of Abdos filter tips during the global pandemic.

Sarah Decembrini (Tenpoint Therapeutics)

Sarah Decembrini is a Senior Scientist at Tenpoint Therapeutics Ltd., which is a biotechnology company committed to advancing engineered cell-based therapies and in vivo reprogramming to restore vision for people with degenerative ocular diseases. Sarah is a happy user of Abdos’ serological pipets.
