For 20 years, Yvonne Zahnd has been part of Axonlab and has experienced many facets of the company. From starting in the helpline to taking on a team leader role and later returning to technical support and helpline operations – Yvonne demonstrates how Axonlab offers opportunities for employees to reorient themselves and find their ideal job.

Yvonne Zahnd, Technical / Helpline Administrator

What motivated you to join Axonlab 20 years ago?
After years of traveling and temporary jobs, I was ready for something more stable. I wanted to discover something new.

How have you developed over time, and what changes have you experienced?
*I started in the helpline and technical support and later became the first team leader of the helpline. However, being in a leadership role didn’t fulfill me as much as working with our devices, so I stepped down and exchanged leadership responsibilities for a toolbox. *

There have been many changes – multiple relocations (offices, spare parts warehouse, workshop…), digitalization, several managerial changes, and so many new colleagues that I can no longer know them all.

What do you appreciate most about working at Axonlab?
The variety of my tasks. I have the perfect mix of helpline work, technical support, and workshop activities. I also enjoy the cross-departmental interaction with different people and appreciate the high level of trust and responsibility given to us.

Is there a project or experience that has stayed with you?
At the beginning of my time here, I attended a telephone training course at Lake Sarnen. After the training, our instructor, Ruedi, drove us around the lake in his vintage car, and we stayed at the Jugendstilhotel Paxmontana. It felt incredibly luxurious to me at the time.

What is your favorite Axonlab product and why?
The Microsemi CRP because it is a fantastic device and because I know it almost better than the contents of my handbag.

If you can consider it a product: the diagnostics helpline, as it is very close to my heart.

What advice would you give to someone just starting at Axonlab?
Be honest and meet people in person rather than just virtually. Teams, emails, WhatsApp, etc., are great, but nothing beats a face-to-face conversation where you can look each other in the eyes. In this regard, I’m old school. 😊

Which three things would you take to a deserted island?
The Beatles cover band “Help,” a well-stocked pantry, and my better half.

You can give a ‘You’re an amazing colleague’ award to someone at Axonlab. Who would you choose and why?
I would need an entire family of awards for all my wonderful colleagues who deserve one. I try to show my appreciation in everyday interactions and hope they feel it.
