Like every year, our two service technicians Markus Häuselmann and Marco Trivellin travelled to Gabon, where Axonlab has been supporting the Jungle Hospital of the Albert Schweitzer Foundation for many years.
In addition to the annual maintenance work on the existing diagnostic instruments, this year's work in Gabon was mainly characterised by political impressions.
Our good and long-standing local contact, Dr Pierre Blaise, initiated two new projects this year. In Lambaréné and in Fougamou, almost 100 km away, the biological data of elderly people will be monitored free of charge. Sociobiological elements will be collected to document the lifestyle of the elderly and ultimately lead to better health and longer life.

To support this project, Axonlab had sent two Micros 60 to Libreville in advance of our two service engineers' visit, which were picked up by our local partners and transported to the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Lambaréné. With the diagnostic equipment provided, the local team will be able to collect data relevant to the project, ensuring a better quality of life and health promotion.
Axonlab's commitment to improving healthcare in Lambaréné and Fougamou was recognised at the highest political level. Our two service engineers witnessed a motorcade - accompanied by the gendarmerie and the military! - and the mayor and a senior minister from the region got out for a group photo with the Micros 60 and the project team. What an honour!
